Vegan Spirulina Carob Brownies

Carobies with Spirulina and maca root for a mornings when i rather have this with tea than a cold smoothie







heres how its done.



1 mashed banana



17- 20 medjool dates

1- 1/2 cups water

8 - 10 lovin spoonfuls of spirulina powder



2 - 1/2 cups unbleached flour

(1c spelt / 1c whole wheat / 1/2c buckwheat is great)

2 tsp baking powder

4 Tbls maca root powder



1/2 cups sesame, groundnut or veg oil



options:

1/3 cups macadamia or other coarse chopped nuts

and/or

cranberries, sultanas, raisins

and/or

coconut or whatever else tickles you





1. mash the banana and set aside in the mixing bowl

2. chop the dates fine and to add hot water in a pot or separate bowl

3. stir in the spirulina to dissolve it

4. mix the 3 dry ingredients in the bowl w the banana

5. add the oil and wet ingredients

6. stir it up just til smooth

7. add the optionals like nuts





spoon or pour into an oiled and floured baking square pan

bake 15- 20 minutes or til done at 350F in a pre-heated oven.



have it hot with tea right away! this is enough to keep me going for nearly a week of snowed in winter weather.

Vegan Carob Brownie Drops




you heard it - brownie drops - vegan of course and so very easy and fast to make.
they are soft enough for a baby if you leave out the nuts. buckwheat makes them
chewy like a brownie. have a shot of organic fair trade espresso with it and buzz all day.

17- 20 dates chopped fine
1- 1/2 cups water

1/2 cups sesame, groundnut or veg oil

1 - 1/2 cups spelt flour
1 cup buckwheat flour
2 - 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup carob powder (or cocoa)

1/2 cup coarse chopped walnuts
1/4 cup hulled hemp seeds
1/4 cup flax seeds

mix it all up starting with the dates soaking or heated in the water
add the oil and liquid/dates to the dry ingredients and nuts and stir
to a thick batter.

drop by a spoon on an oiled or parchment lined baking tray without crowding
for 7 - 9 min at 350F. they wont last long. approx 28 drop cookies
